Baby Cot Maintenance Guide

For a newborn, a cot is a safe haven where the baby can sleep and play around as they wish. It is your duty to keep that place clean for your baby’s hygiene and safety. Neglecting the cleaning of a cot can cause your baby to fall victim to bacteria-borne diseases. To avoid that, keep your baby’s cot clean and in utmost condition.

Before you get started, remove all the items from the cot and also keep your baby with someone who can watch over them. Make sure the cot is empty and take the beddings to clean them separately. Avoid using any harsh detergents to put your baby’s beddings and pillows in but make sure it can kill all the bacteria. Rinse them properly and leave them out to dry. If the beddings are not washable, take a sponge soaked in mild detergent and water to scrub over the surface. If there are any stubborn stains, put the detergent solution there a little longer and scrub again. Then use clean water to clear off any soapy residues and leave the mattress out in the sun to dry off.

Meanwhile, take a soft cloth or sponge soaked in soapy water and scrub the entire surface of the cot thoroughly. Make sure you clean every single corner and also check all the bolts and screws to see if any of them are missing. Let the cot completely dry off before putting everything back in.

If any part of the cot feels flimsy or problematic, get it checked immediately as a small error can compromise your baby’s safety.

Conclusion

We hope the list above provided you with enough information to help you select a cot for your baby. Give your baby a safe and comfortable place where you can watch him or her as they grow up to be a wonderful person.
